Our Story
Cox Industries was started by its principal and managing director, Walter (Wally) Cox. After completing his civil engineering degree in the United States in 1986, Wally worked for several years with Ryan Incorporated Eastern based in Florida and Virginia. Ryan Incorporated Eastern is a heavy construction firm with extensive experience in all types of site development. While at Ryan Eastern, Wally was part of the management team on such diverse and notable projects as the Queenstown Harbor Golf Course and the Charlotte Correctional Institution in Punta Gorda, Florida which involved him with extensive site development in the environmentally sensitive wetlands of the Florida Everglades.
In Jamaica, Wally has worked as project manager, project engineer, quantity surveyor and general manager for S. C. Cox & Brothers Limited, a building and civil engineering firm founded in 1966 by his father Samuel C. Cox, a civil engineer. S. C. Cox & Brothers Limited is an affiliate of Cox Industries, and has completed numerous projects in Jamaica including large housing developments in Portmore, in Delacree Park and in Delacree Pen as well as schools, apartment buildings, health centre and the Green Grotto and Dunn’s River redevelopment & refurbishment projects in St. Ann.
Continuing in this tradition of excellence, in 2011 Wally founded Cox Industries.
